Cleaning blinds doesn't have to be particularly difficult or labour-intensive. Especially when there are clever and simple methods that are not too time-consuming. For plastic, aluminium and wooden blinds, you can try the following tricks for a nicer window.<\/p>\n

Hello Clean has picked out 3 different methods to clean blinds quickly and easily. Many people think that cleaning blinds is tricky because they have to be taken down. That's not really true! With standard plastic, aluminium and wooden blinds, you can safely leave the blinds in the window while you clean them. However, the first step for the following methods is always to vacuum.<\/p>\n

How to vacuum a blind<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Pick out the vacuum cleaner nozzle that fits sensitive surfaces and materials<\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0Turn the power down to medium on the vacuum cleaner, otherwise you risk breaking the blind<\/li>\n
  3. Vacuum according to the direction of the blind; horizontally along horizontally hanging blinds and vice versa for vertical blinds<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Cleaning blinds: 3 ways<\/h2>\n

    Continue by making your own cleaner for your blinds. Take out a mop bucket and fill it with warm water. Add a few drops of soap. If you don't have soap at home, you can use washing-up liquid, but soap is a gentler alternative. It might be worth thinking about so that you don't damage the slats.<\/p>\n

    Tip. To clean blinds that have been exposed to a lot of dust, cooking fumes, smoke and sticky fingers, you may need to add some bicarbonate of soda. Baking soda dissolves stubborn dirt that won't come off with soap. Here you can find more smart housewife tips<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    1. microfibre cloth<\/h3>\n

    With a microfibre cloth, you can easily clean blinds. Dip the cloth in your cleaner and squeeze out - you want it to be damp, but not too wet. Drag the cloth over the slats one by one. Rinse the cloth out and dip the cloth in the water regularly, so that all the dirt disappears.<\/p>\n

    2. cotton gloves<\/h3>\n

    Cleaning blinds with cotton gloves gives you full control over the process. Dip the glove in the water and squeeze out. Put the glove on and pinch your fingers on the top and bottom of the blind. Gently pull from side to side and repeat until the entire blind is clean. Don't forget to rinse the glove regularly.<\/p>\n

    3. old sock<\/h3>\n

    Even if you have a crisis in the cupboard, you can still clean blinds! All you need is an old sock. The process is the same as with the cotton glove - but with a sock! Now there are no more excuses for dirty blinds.<\/p>\n

    Why you should clean your blinds often<\/h2>\n

    Maintenance is key when it comes to most things. For example, it's easier to look after an oven by regularly cleaning it and avoiding it becoming ingrained. That cleaning an ingrown oven<\/a> will always be more time-consuming in the end. The same goes for blinds! By continuously dusting or vacuuming your blinds, you avoid having to resort to the soap. Extremely dirty blinds may eventually need to be dismantled and cleaned in a bathtub, and we don't want that, do we?<\/p>\n
